The award winning motion designer Pierre Magnol (aka Bright Photon) was kind enough to share his thoughts on Yanobox Nodes and its use on his latest project, a promotional video for the Orchestra. We have previously featured Pierre’s work on the promo video for the Falcon 8X from Dassault Aviation.
Please tell us about the project’s goals and motivations.
The challenge of this project was to really understand the needs of the company. It was the clients first first 3D movie and I worked directly with the client, no agency was involved. I could therefore manage the project exactly the way I wanted.
How did you get involved in this cool project? How long did it take?
As mentioned this is one of the rare cases when the client contacted me directly. They saw my demo reel through Vimeo and contacted me. The concept took 15 days, then it took another 15 days to complete the project.
What tools / workflow did you use?
As always, my go-to workflow is CINEMA 4D alongside Adobe After Effects where I use the Nodes plugin. This allows me to make quick decisions through my fast moving design process. I also did some work with OTOY Octane render.
Anything interesting to mention about the use of Nodes on this project?
Nodes was perfect for this project because one of my main goals was to visualize how vast amounts of real life data is transformed by Orchestra’s platform into actionable information.
I don’t know any other plugins that could have worked so well at this task.
Can you show us where Nodes was used exactly?
Bright Photon is Pierre Magnol
Pierre started his career in 1998 as a video and film editor for Le Groupe Canal + before moving on to the wonderful world of graphic design for several broadcast channels and luxury brands.
Macro photography and beautiful lighting are two constants throughout much of his work, as Pierre constantly strives to bring a unique perspective to each and every piece, whether it be live photography, computer graphics, or hand crafted images.
“How to light a scene, subject or even character is very important because what is revealed is as important as what it is not…. Every single product or person is the source of a precious history that deserves to be illuminated.” You can find Pierre online here: Website – Twitter – Vimeo
Yanobox Nodes is being used by many talented artists on a number of great projects. Previously, we have looked at screen graphics in motion pictures such as Ender’s game, Planet of the Apes, Earth to Echo, The Avengers and Transformers: Age of Extinction.
