Powering Up FxFactory Pro 6

FxFactory Pro 6 is the most significant update to our plugins in years. Let’s break down the biggest news for our users and offer a glimpse of things to come.

What will it cost me?

The new version is free for existing customers. Install the most recent version of FxFactory on your Mac, and the update will download automatically upon launch.

That same license you purchased when your HDV footage looked stunning in Final Cut Pro 5 will unlock our newest, baddest release yet. Thank you for counting on our tools for so many years!

New users should have more reasons than ever to look at FxFactory Pro. An academic discount is available to those who qualify.

Will it be a pain to upgrade?

The upgrade is seamless. FxFactory Pro 6 includes previous versions of our plugins, so you can continue working on your existing projects without interruption.

Roughly half of the plugins have been redesigned. Until the rewrite is complete, the older FxFactory Pro 5 plugins remain accessible next to the new ones.

In
Final Cut Pro, you will notice separate effect categories for each version:

In other video apps, such as
Premiere Pro, you will notice that many simpler plugins have been replaced by a single, more powerful version. The best examples of this change are the Blur, Glow and Halftones filters.

What about system requirements?

Any Mac running macOS 12.6 and later will be able to run FxFactory Pro 6. That said...

Our newest plugins pack dozens of features that can be rather taxing for the graphics card and Neural Engine. We strongly recommend a Mac powered by an Apple processor with at least 16GB of system memory.

What next?

We’re busy rebuilding more of our plugins for the modern era and bringing new ideas into existence. There is always room to support one more video app. Anyone take a guess what that may be? 😉
