Mask With Geometry

Applies the alpha channel from a secondary clip to the effect clip. Opacity is extracted from the native alpha channel of the secondary clip or from a given luminance range.

Compatibility

Mask With Geometry is compatible with Final Cut Pro, Motion, Premiere Pro and After Effects.

Parameters

Presets

Presets contain a snapshot of your effect configuration. While no built-in presets are available through this parameter, you can still save and load your own preset files.

When you save parameter configuration to a file on disk, this file can later be loaded to recreate the same effect configuration. Presets generated in one video application can be used by the same plug-in running in a different video application.

Working with the Presets Menu

Mask With Geometry

Mask

Lets you provide additional media to the effect.

The user interface varies by host:

Drop Zones in Final Cut Pro
Drop Zones in Motion
Video Track Selection in Premiere Pro
Layer Selection in After Effects

The media you assign to this parameter is used to apply new opacity to the original clip the effect is applied to. The technique used to extract an alpha channel from the auxiliary media is determined by the Source parameter.

When your first apply this plug-in to a clip on your timeline, you will see the following warning until you assign media to this parameter:

Center

Location within the frame where the media assigned to the Mask parameter is centered.

Scale

Uniform scale factor applied to the media applied to the Mask parameter.

Scale X

Horizontal scale factor applied to the media applied to the Mask parameter.

Scale Y

Vertical scale factor applied to the media applied to the Mask parameter.

Angle

Determines the rotation of the media assigned to the Mask parameter, relative to its center location within the frame.

Blur

Controls the amount of blurring applied to the media assigned to the Mask parameter before alpha channel is extracted.

Range

Determines the luminance range in the media assigned ot the Mask parameter that is used to create an alpha channel for your clip:

Luminance range parameters

Luminance range parameters

0% and 100% on the gradient represent the minimum and maximum intensities allowed by the current working colorspace, as defined by the Curve parameter. Move the range towards black to select the darkest pixels in the image. Move the range towards white to select the lightest pixels in the image.

Curve

Determines the color space in which the luminance range is defined.

Softness

Allows you to soften the boundary between pixels that fall within the selected luminance range, and those that are not.

Invert

Inverts the alpha channel that is copied or extracted (via luminace range) from the media assigned to the Mask parameter.

Flip Horizontally

Flips the alpha channel horizontally.

Flip Vertically

Flips the alpha channel vertically.

Channel Selection

This section allows you to limit the effect to specific channels, leaving others unmodified.
